Major League Soccer and the French Football Federation have announced a partnership that will provide MLS Academy coaches with an invaluable 16-month training course.

The courses will take place at France's Clairefontaine national training facility and will guide these coaches through the same programme as the one French football's governing body provide to their domestic coaches in the French football system.
"We are incredibly excited about this new partnership with the French Football Federation," Todd Durbin, MLS executive vice president of player relations & competition, said in a statement.
"As part of our vision to be among the top leagues in the world by 2022, we are committed to becoming leaders in the area of player development. This initiative will provide an important learning opportunity for MLS youth academies."
Each MLS club will nominate one of their coaches to attend the programme, which will be divided into various sessions between February 2013 and May 2014. The methods learnt during these training sessions will eventually be implemented into American youth academies by July 2014.
In addition to these training courses, these coaches will spend two-weeks immersed in the academies of some of Europe's top clubs, including Real Madrid, Athletic Bilbao and Paris Saint-Germain.
"Through our partnership with MLS, The French Football Federation is proud and excited to be engaged in such a marvellous project," said FFF technical director François Blaquart in a statement.
"The expectations of MLS are very high and the FFF technical department is greatly honoured to be selected in this area.
"Our commitment with MLS will be the foundation for concrete and great development between US and French football as it mirrors the long-term friendship between France and the United States."
