The Bosnia international has garnered a reputation as a super-sub for City this term, scoring crucial goals on multiple occasions for the champions after coming off the bench.

But the former Wolfsburg ace is thought to have grown frustrated at his lack of playing time at Eastlands, and has given a clear hint that he may yet leave England sooner than expected.

"I love the Bundesliga and I will return to the Bundesliga. The only thing I don't know is when," he said in the Daily Mirror.

With talk in Germany linking Robert Lewandowski to a move to Bayern Munich, Dzeko has often been mooted as a replacement for the Polish hitman at Borussia Dortmund.

Dzeko, though, was quick to deny the rumours, claiming the reports should be taken with a pinch of salt.

"That's not true. There is a lot of talk and a lot is written. If you believed every word, I'd be playing at Bayern Munich or AC Milan by now," he added.

"Dortmund are a top club. Everyone in Europe can see that and with manager Jurgen Klopp, they have a great coach working there."
