The duo were initially ruled out for long-term spells with knee and foot injuries respectively, with early prognoses predicting several months on the sidelines in both cases.

It does appear, however, that Castrillon and Rivero will return sooner than initially feared, although they are still likely to miss a part of the MLS season.

When asked about a potential return to first team action, the Colombian Castrillon suggested a five to six week absence, as opposed to the three-month spell initially thought, adding:

"[Hopefully] as soon as I can. I want to have the opportunity to help my team as soon as possible.

"I like playing in this league and the Rapids, I'm happy, and hopefully, I'll get better soon."

Rivero too, was thought to be facing the season on the sidelines after breaking his foot in a pre-season game, but now looks set to return closer to June.

"It's my first serious injury," Rivero told MLSsoccer.com in Denver on Saturday. "It's complicated, but it happens to every player and it's an experience."
