The Midlands club produced an excellent performance at Anfield in their last Premier League encounter, moving them into ninth position in the table.

Manager Steve Clarke will be hoping to carry that momentum into this weekend's game against the Black Cats, having previously gone six games without a win before the Liverpool game.

Want-away striker Peter Odemwingie could return to the Baggies fold after sitting out for the last two fixtures following his embarrassing transfer deadline day shenanigans.

Clarke seems to have thawed in his position regarding the Nigerian striker, admitting this week that it's time to move on from the episode.

Sunderland, meanwhile, will be hoping to break their current winless streak at the Hawthorns, having registered two defeats and a draw in their last three matches.

Although the Wearside club are relatively clear from the relegation zone, Martin O'Neill will be all too aware of the dangers of continuing to drop points consecutively.

In team news, West Brom are hopeful of having on-loan striker Romelu Lukaku return to the starting line-up after his super-sub appearance against Liverpool two weeks ago.

Youssouf Mulumbu, too, has recently returned from a knee injury and could continue his comeback in the side, but Goran Popov misses out continuing his three match ban for spitting at Tottenham's Kyle Walker.

O'Neill, meanwhile, could hand Sunderland new boy Danny Graham his first start for the Black Cats.

Graham has featured on the bench in his first two games for Sunderland after signing from Swansea in the January transfer window.

Club captain Lee Cattermole, however, is a doubt after aggravating a recent knee injury in Sunderland's game against Arsenal a fortnight ago, while Danny Rose looks set to also miss out with a hamstring strain.
