Speaking after the Sounders' 2-0 victory over New York Red Bulls in the Desert Diamond Cup on Wednesday, the former New England Revolution man, who made 261 appearances for the Revs in 11 seasons, expressed his delight at the move to his new club.
"It's like a dream come true," Joseph told MLSsoccer Online.
"I'm at the tail end of my career and I want a chance to win a championship. I think this is the team that's giving me the best chance to win."
Joseph had spent two days on trial with the Sounders before head coach Sigi Schmid decided to take him on board permanently. And after admitting he was not in the best condition, the midfielder was glad his new coach took to his efforts to impress anyway.
"[Schmid] is right, I wasn't fit and I wasn't sharp and I've got a calf strain that's still bothering me," he continued.
"But he just spoke the truth and we had a conversation one on one. "He knows my talent, he knows what I bring to this team and what I'm capable of. That's all that counts right now."
Joseph also added that he doesn't mind being used in different capacities by the Sounders, as his main goal is simply to help the team win.
"I'll play anywhere as long as I'm getting in the game and contributing and helping us win games," he added. "That's all I care about. It doesn't matter the position."
