The former West Ham, Aston Villa and Bolton veteran has been linked with a number of clubs in England, but the 28-year-old has opted instead to try his hand in America's top-flight, which kicks off at the beginning of March.

"I am delighted, it will be a new experience and I can't wait," Reo-Coker told Sky Sports before jetting off to Canada.

"I am looking forward to the challenge."

The midfielder's agent, Tony Finnigan, further underlined his client's desire to play in the United States, adding: "It is something new for Nigel, and he is relishing the prospect of going.

"He just wants to play football, and that chance has arisen in Major League Soccer and he now taking that with both hands.

"Everything is sorted, and he just has to finalise the details when he arrives there."
