The Columbian has been the subject of much speculation after a stellar 18 months with Los Rojiblancos since arriving from Porto in June 2011.

The hitman has netted 59 times for the Madrid side in all competitions thus far, alerting Europe's biggest clubs to his availability in the process.

Falcao, though, has played down the rumours linking him with big money moves to Chelsea and Real Madrid, citing his desire to qualify for the Champions League as a reason to stay at the Vicente Calderon.

"I have a contract with Atletico for three more years, therefore that's the best option," he told El Mundo Deportivo.

"As a group we have the clear goal of qualifying for the Champions League. If we maintain the same level that we have showed we will achieve our objectives.

"We are not thinking about either (Real) Madrid or Barca, we are focusing on what we can give and on our objectives."

The striker, who was recently included in the FIFpro World XI at the FIFA Ballon D'Or gala in January, also described his pleasure with his decision to join Atletico, stating the move has proved a prosperous one in his burgeoning career.

"I have come to one of the big clubs in Spain, in a very important league that is more well-known on the world stage than any I was in with my previous clubs," he added.

"It has allowed me to grow as a footballer, to become known in other parts of the world. It has been a very positive step."
