Ferguson was full of praise for Nani after his second half goal set the Red Devils on course for a fourth round victory on Monday.

But the Scot was keen to stress the importance of the winger continuing his good form, following his struggle to cement a starting spot at Old Trafford this term.

"He's got great talent and I had a feeling he would win the game for us," the 71-year-old said.

"If he keeps that form up it makes my job even more difficult.

"You could see he was right on form and he had two great strikes straight away and he was a threat to them the whole night."

Nani has established himself as an important member of the United squad over the last two seasons, after coming to maturity following a frustrating start to life in Manchester.

Injuries, however, have played a part in the Portugal international's indifferent showings this term, and Ferguson claims his Man of the match performance against the Royals was just rewards after his early struggles this season.

"I think he deserved that. When he came on he had some great strikes. He hit the post, one the goalkeeper saved. In the second half, he scored the opening goal. His contribution was terrific," he added.
