The winger was set to miss six weeks after undergoing knee surgery in January, but the 26-year-old is now expected to be available for the season opener, and could even feature in the Carolina Challenge Cup which runs from the 16th to the 23rd of February.

"I should be ready," he said. "Right now the main focus is getting into practice and to get at least two games in while in Charleston. We'll see. I'm pretty confident that I'll be available March 2nd."

Head coach Dominic Kinnear is optimistic the former University of North Carolina star will win his fitness battle and be available for selection.

"I think Corey's getting better day by day," he said. "If he's targeting South Carolina, if that's the target for him and he feels he can reach that, that's great for us. He had a great season last year, we all know that, and he's an important player for us."
