Mourinho and Ferguson became close friends when the Portuguese was at Chelsea, but the niceties will be put to one side on Wednesday when Madrid host the Red Devils in their UEFA Champions League last-16 tie at the Bernebeu.
The former Blues mentor has long been tipped as a successor to the Red Devils hot-seat, but Mourinho believes Ferguson won't be retiring anytime soon.
When asked by the media ahead of the midweek tussle in Spain if he would replace the fiery Scot at Old Trafford, Mourinho replied frankly: "No."
He continued: "I don't believe so, I think we have to end our career at the same time. Him at 90 and me at 70."
Mourinho did, however, reiterate his desire to return to England when he is finished with Los Blancos.
"After Real Madrid, England will be my next step," he added. "I love everything about it."
There has been much speculation over Mourinho's future at Real amidst reports of a divided dressing room, but he has continued to play down these rumours.
"Are you worried about my crisis?" he said. "I am not. It is easy for you to let this press conference end and then speak to the people who write the stories, they will tell you stories they like to write."
Mourinho is under intense pressure to secure Los Merengues their first European title since 2002, and with the La Liga title seemingly on its way back to Barcelona, it may be the only title that keeps him in his current job.
"There are great clubs in the world who have never won this competition," he said. "Real Madrid have won nine, I have won two. Real Madrid wants to win its 10th. I want my third.
"If it comes this year, good. If not, I will try again next year, I don't think I will end my career with only two titles."
