Late goals from Gareth McAuley and Romelu Lukaku secured the Baggies a smash-and-grab 2-0 win at Anfield.
Albion, without a win since Boxing Day and with just one point from their last six games, failed to test Reds goalkeeper Jose Reina until the 80th minute of the game.
But they went on to secure maximum points on Merseyside for the second successive season after Steven Gerrard saw a penalty saved by the inspirational Ben Foster.
Monday's result saw Steve Clarke's men leapfrog the Merseysiders into eighth, with Rodgers having admitted his side let themselves down on the night.
"It was one of those games we couldn't get the breakthrough," the Ulsterman said. "The longer it goes on it gives the opposition more encouragement. It's a big disappointment because we had two home games this week (the other is his former club Swansea on Sunday) that we felt were opportunities for us.
"But we'll go again and get back in tomorrow. We've got a game away in the Europa League against Zenit St Petersburg which we'll be ready for Thursday and then come back, get ready and go again at the weekend."
