The Frenchman believes Roy Hodgson went back on an understanding and kept the youngster on the field for the full 90 minutes for England against Brazil after he was led to believe that the Three Lions camp would take him off sometime during the game.

"Jack got a big kick on the thigh," Wenger told Arsenal's official website. "He couldn't walk and he doesn't walk properly now. Again, it is a question of four or five days."

Wilshere was the man-of-the-match at Wembley and the 63-year-old believes the quality of his play in the first-half was the main factor for him not being subbed as England pushed on to try and win the game.

"I had in fact expected Jack to play only a part of the game on Wednesday, but it didn't happen and because of his quality he will be exposed to that, the overuse of his quality, and you can understand that," the former Monaco boss said. He will have to be managed like everyone else."

The Gunners play Blackburn Rovers in an FA Cup fifth round tie at the Emirates on Saturday and Wilshere now faces a race to be fit in time for the clash.
