Stoke City manager Tony Pulis has hinted that goalkeeper Asmir Begovic could stay at the Britannia Stadium next season, despite the signing of Jack Butland in January.

The Potters secured the England U-21 international's services from Birmingham City on transfer deadline day but allowed the youngster to stay at St Andrew's on loan until the end of the season.

Reports at the time suggested he was being drafted in as a possible replacement for Begovic, who has repeatedly been linked with a move to Manchester United, but Pulis has indicated it is not a given the Bosian will leave in the off-season.

"If Manchester United come in and offer an enormous amount of money or someone else does, we would have to look at it," Pulis told Sky Sports.

"But I haven't brought in Butland because of that."

The Welshman admits Butland could be loaned out again next season if the Stoke hierarchy feel he is not yet ready for the Premier League, but did say the club are delighted to have secured the talented 19-year-old's services, for what he feels was a bargain price.

"If it comes to next season and we've still got three goalkeepers and feel Jack isn't ready, he'll be loaned out again," he said.

"There was no thought in my mind of bringing Butland in just in case Asmir went. We felt it was a fantastic opportunity.

"The price was unbelievable."
