Beckham recently signed a deal with PSG until the end of the season, and the former England captain stressed that he is not in Paris to enjoy the sights.

He means to contribute to Les Parisiens' Ligue 1 title challenge as well as their UEFA Champions League ambitions.

And the 37-year-old, who is donating his entire salary while at PSG to a children's charity, says one need look no further than former Manchester United team-mates Giggs and Scholes for inspiration.

He said: "People might say I'm 37 and coming to the end of my career but I don't see it like that. I see it as a challenge. I might be 37, but I can still play a bit.

"I don't expect to come into the club and be a starter straight away. I've never expected that anywhere. I'll work hard to win a place in the team and work hard to help make the team a success.

"I want to be successful, I want to be a champion and win trophies. That never changes. Once you have that motivation it's with you for life.

"Look at the likes of Ryan Giggs and Paul Scholes at Manchester United [still doing it] at the highest level. They don't play every game but when they do play, they are big influences on the game and I'm looking to do that and to be successful.

"I'm excited to be part of a league that's very competitive. Every time I've played against a team from this league it's been a difficult game and I don't expect that to have changed."
