Duka has been handed the chance to revive his career in the Windy City after the Fire traded for him on Monday.

This, after he lost his starting position with the Crew towards the end of last season.

"I personally felt that I was too complacent and a little too content in that atmosphere," the 23-year old told MLSsoccer.com. "I just needed a new environment to rekindle my drive and go forward."

Duka knows all too well about the strain of playing and training in the off-season, after tearing a hamstring in the 2012 campaign following an pre-season spent training with the United States U23 side and the Generation Adidas team.

"It was a lesson well-learned," Duka said. "Now I know that in the off-season, you need to be off for a good amount of time. This off-season, I took a good amount of time off, and I'm healthy as we speak.

"I was just excited that the trade happened now rather than later, so I actually get to come to pre-season with a team."
