The Nerazzurri slipped to fifth place in Serie A following their 3-1 defeat to Siena over the weekend.

Stramaccioni has secured just one win from his last seven games, collecting only five points, and ahead of clashes with Chievo and Fiorentina prior to the second Milan derby, Moratti has felt the need to publicly back his coach.

Moratti told Inter's official website that he has complete confidence in his manager: "Yes, of course, of course.

"We need to work hard and we need to pay more attention. We need to protect ourselves from our rivals, especially those nearest to us. But we do need to turn things around."

Moratti also moved to dispel rumours he had sent Stramaccioni a text message outlining what was expected of his side over the next five matches.

"No, I never sent a text message," he added. "I read that too but I never sent a message. I did have a little chat with Stramaccioni though."
