Having recently lost the services of Chilean midfielder Milovan Mirosevic for the new season, the Crew are desperate to move for a replacement.

Sánchez has since joined up with Warzycha's side in Ohio for the first of two indoor sessions before the team heads to Florida for further pre-season training.

The MLS side are optimistic the 25-year-old Estudiantes star can fill the gap in the centre of midfield.

"We know he has a good résumé, but we have only seen him on DVD, " Warzycha told the MLS official website. "I am looking forward to seeing him play. He's going to be the last piece if we sign him.

"We were trying to bring somebody else. Obviously, that didn't work so we went to plan B.

"Because of the late dealing with the Milo situation, we had less time to get a full, detailed scouting report on Sánchez," Crew technical director Brian Bliss added.

"A couple of days in Florida and I think it will be an easier decision for us."
