The 2-2 draw against Liverpool at the Etihad Stadium on Sunday, that followed a goalless stalemate at struggling Queens Park Rangers, left the champions nine points behind table-toppers Manchester United with 13 games of the season remaining.

But despite their recent dip in form, Hart is adamant the City players still believe they can catch their fierce rivals - having overturned an eight-point deficit with six games of last term remaining to be crowned champions on goal difference.

He said: "Of course we still feel we can do this. That's who we are, and that's what we are. We've put ourselves in a worse position than we would like to be, but that's football sometimes."

He added: "It's not like we just float along and think, 'Oh my God, we're six points behind, we're nine points behind, we had better talk to each other'.

"The same stuff goes on - there is stuff we need to address and that gets done on a regular basis."

Roberto Mancini's side play United at the Etihad Stadium in April, with Hart adding that they need to just keep on winning and not worry about what their challengers are doing.

"They do what they do, and I'm sure they have realised that if they play well

they have a very good chance, but we know that we will always be there," he said.
