In seventh place with 33 points, a whopping 23 less than Barca, Ernesto Valverde's men can better their league standing provided they win and other results go their way.

Los Murciélagos, though, will be buoyed by their 3-2 triumph at Deportivo last Saturday, Ricardo Costa's injury-time winner enough to secure all three points for his team.

Meanwhile, victory for the Blaugrana will keep them 11 points ahead of second-place Atletico Madrid and third-placed Real Madrid, who have 47 and 43 points respectively ahead of the weekend's round of matches.

Tito Vilanova's charges struggled to score against Los Blancos in Wednesday's Copa del Rey El Clasico semi-final first-leg encounter at the Bernabeu, which ended 1-1.

On the team front, Valencia will continue to make do without hamstrung Roberto Soldado, Nelson Valdez set to deputise up front in the striker's absence.

Barcelona escaped their midweek cup tussle unscathed and have an injury-free squad for the trip, with Victor Valdes expected to return in goal at the expense of Jose Manuel Pinto.
