Gunners fans have rarely missed an opportunity to voice their displeasure at the Brazilian full-back, most notably when the side travelled to Manchester United in November.
Santos asked Robin van Persie for his shirt at half-time, when his team were a goal down in a game they would go on to lose 2-1. It was seen by many as a clear sign of his lack of commitment to the club.
He replaced Kieran Gibbs against Liverpool on Wednesday when the England international suffered a thigh strain, and after another average display by the former Fenerbahce man, he assured the supporters that his form will improve.
He wrote on social networking site Twitter: "Thank you very much to the fans that support me, slowly I'll reach my the ideal form!!!"
The Samba star will have an opportunity to deliver on his promise as Gibbs's injury looks likely to keep him sidelined for the next three weeks.
