The Gunners came back from two goals down to level the game at 2-2 following second half goals from in-form strikers Olivier Giroud and Theo Walcott.
The spirited fightback, however, was dampened by the news that Gibbs will be missing for a lengthy spell after injuring his thigh in the game.
"He has a thigh strain that rules him out for the next three weeks. It's a blow for us of course," Arsenal boss Arsene Wenger said.
"He was an important player for us going forward and the game we want to play. It's a shame he's out for the next three weeks," he added.
Gibbs will be a doubt for the Gunners' UEFA Champions League last-16 tie with Bayern Munich on February 19, with Andre Santos likely to deputise during the England international's recovery.
