Patrick Ianni has been ruled out for the start of the new MLS season after injuring himself in a bizarre injury, Seattle Sounders coach Sigi Schmid confirmed.

The Sounders centre-back injured his foot during a pre-season jump test, and the boss said it could be one for the history books.
"That's a first. That's a history maker," Schmid said. "I don't know how anybody injures himself on the jump test, but he did. Landed funny, I guess. So we've just got to wait and see what the MRI says."
Despite adding Eriq Zavaleta to their defence as the 10th Superdraft pick, the injury leaves the Rave Greens relatively short on numbers at the back.
Schmid, however, feels his current squad has enough versatility to cope with the loss of the former Houston Dynamo.
"We drafted Zavaleta primarily as a center-back, this definitely keeps him back there," he said.
"Zach Scott can play inside as well. So, Zach, we're really looking at him playing more inside this year than outside, because we figured we have Adam Johansson and DeAndre Yedlin on the right. It just means Zach will move up into the lineup.
"I don't think it pressures us into a move yet."
