The playmaker has garnered a reputation as one of Europe's hottest young properties following some fine performances for La Liga upstarts Malaga this season.

But the 20-year-old has ended the recent speculation surrounding his future by committing to Los Boquerones on a new long-term deal.

It is reported, however, that the new deal includes a 35 million Euro buy-out clause, thus only delaying a potential deal for the sought-after midfielder for a few transfer windows.

Speaking about his new deal to the club's official website, the Spaniard said: "It's a big step for me and for Malaga. I'm grateful because they brought me to the city. I have trust in this team and I think we will continue improving this year, and that's good for me and for the club.

"I'm happy to have renewed. What happens in the future, nobody knows. Nobody has contacted me, these are rumours and run every day. It isn't time to talk about it now."

Los Boquerones sporting director Mario Husillos admitted there had been approaches made for the Spain under-21 international, but is happy the player has agreed to stay for the foreseeable future.

"The player has always been very clear that the only option was to stay at Malaga," he said. "There have been offers from other clubs, but the main thing for me is that he continues in Malaga."
