The North African nation crashed out of the tournament on Sunday after drawing 2-2 with South Africa, a result which saw them finish third in Group A. One now has to go back to 2004 to find the last time Morocco progressed past the group stages of the tournament.
Speaking after the draw with Bafana Bafana, coach Rachid Taoussi asserted his belief that his young squad - which has an average age of 24 - did themselves proud as they improved as the competition progressed, a good sign heading into their World Cup qualifying campaign.
Kantari too feels that after an impressive showing against the hosts, there were positives to be found.
"Of course we are disappointed, until the last minute we thought we had qualified but it was not our day," he told Football411.
"We have to build on this. Everyone saw a good game and we have to produce this kind of game again next time. We need to take the experience from this Africa Cup of Nations."
The Lions of the Atlas last qualified for the World Cup when it was held in France 1998 and will have to oust the Ivory Coast if they are to make it to Brazil in 2014. Taoussi's men are currently third in their group with two points from two matches, with two ties against Tanzania and clashes with the Ivory Coast and Gambia remaining.
