Aston Villa travelled to The Den with hopes of bouncing back from the disappointing Capital One cup upset against Bradford City on Tuesday night.

Paul Lambert included Darren Bent in his starting line-up and that decision paid off after 28 minutes as the club's record signing bundled home Andreas Weimann's shot to put them ahead in the tie.

Millwall replied instantly as Danny Shittu headed in an equaliser from James Henry's corner, further confirming Villa's defensive frailties from set-pieces this season.

Kenny Jackett's side always looked most likely to go on and win the game as Lambert's young side struggled in front of the vociferous Millwall crowd, although chances were few and far between for both teams.

It was a quiet second half until Henry's shot came back off the crossbar after 89 minutes and Marquis reacted quickly to head in the rebound, securing a cup upset and Millwall's place in the FA Cup fifth round.

The defeat increases the pressure on Lambert's position at Villa Park after another lacklustre performance from the Premier League side.
