The Blues were unable to find a way past a resolute Swans at Liberty Stadium, the match finishing goalless with Michael Laudrup's side through to the final thanks to their 2-0 first-leg win.

The west Londoners would end the game with 10 men after Hazard had inexplicably kicked a ball boy in the ribs, resulting in an unsurprising straight red card.

Following the incident, chief superintendent of South Wales Police Josh Jones, said: "South Wales is aware of the incident involving a ballboy at the Liberty Stadium in Swansea tonight.

"We are making arrangements for him to be interviewed. South Wales Police takes such matters very seriously."

The ball boy, however, is reported to have decided not to lay charges against Hazard, after the pair had met after the game to exchange mutual apologies.

Hazard has since tried to explain his side of the story, the Belgian forward telling Chelsea TV: "The boy put his whole body onto the ball and I was just trying to kick the ball and I think I kicked the ball and not the boy.

"I apologise.

"The ballboy came in the changing room and we had a quick chat and I apologised and the boy apologised as well, and it is over. Sorry."
