This after the Red Devils dramatic 1-1 draw with Tottenham Hotspur at the weekend to which the United boss claimed the visitors "never got anything from that side of the pitch" and that the linesman had a "shocking game."

Benitez and Ferguson have enjoyed a fiery relationship in the past stretching back to the Spaniard's reign at Liverpool, and the 52-year-old has reignited the feud by reiterating his 2009 claim that the Scot was never punished for verbally abusing match officials.

"I always try to concentrate on my job, but at that time with Ferguson I was defending my club," the former Inter boss told The Times.

"I could see what was happening from my point of view, and maybe now a lot of people are seeing the same things. I will not talk too much about that because it's obvious."

Ferguson's behaviour at White Hart Lane on Sunday has prompted the FA to take action against the long time United manager, and English football's governing body have given the 71-year-old until 6pm on Thursday to explain his comments about linesman Simon Beck.

"It's a question for the FA what they do about it," Benitez added. "What I said at that time was what I thought, and what I'm seeing now is similar.

"It depends on the FA. I don't know what they will do - it depends on them. At this moment in time I have enough things to do here, so I want to concentrate on my job."
