Branislav Ivanovic had a nightmare when the two sides met two weeks ago, with errors first allowing Michu to open the scoring, before Danny Graham added a second late on.

The Blues now head to the Liberty Stadium hoping to secure their place in the cup final for the seventh time in their history.

The west London outfit have won the League Cup on four occasions - the last time in the 2006/07 season.

Interim boss Rafa Benitez must make do without Nigerian duo Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel, who are both on Africa Cup of Nations duty.

David Luiz is also unavailable due to an ankle injury, while Oriol Romeu is the Blues' only long-term absentee.

Meanwhile, the Swans are playing in the semi-finals for the first time in their history.

Boss Michael Laudrup will have to make do without Kemy Agustien and Neil Taylor (both ankle), while Chico (knee) is a doubt for the game.

Gerhard Tremmel is expected to keep his place between the sticks having featured in all of Swansea's cup clashes so far.
