While the Frenchman admits racial abuse and mob mentality continue to plague the game, he believes fixing matches could be the death of football.
"Racism and violence - it is a little beyond our control because it is not just about football but also affects the public," he told French radio station RTL.
"On the other hand we're directly concerned by match-fixing. For me, this is the greatest shame.
"If tomorrow, we'll see a game and we already know the result, football is dead."
The game is facing an ongoing battle against racism, highlighted once more when Kevin-Prince Boateng walked off the pitch because of racist chanting during a friendly match between AC Milan and Pro Patria at the beginning of January.
Platini was in clear admiration of the midfielder's actions and said: "It's great, I really liked it. It was very good, I also called to congratulate Milan."
