The Gunners entered the Stamford Bridge encounter on the back of a 2-0 loss to Manchester City, and the north London club again found themselves two-goals down this weekend after Juan Mata and Frank Lampard's penalty put the Blues in the driving seat at half-time.
Arsenal did manage to ensure a tense finish as Theo Walcott halved the deficit midway through the second period, but they were unable to grab an equaliser as they saw their top-four aspirations fall even further behind.
Wenger, whose side now sit seven points behind fourth, said: "We have lost two big games in the last week. That's damaging for us. We can't afford to lose more points. It's a concern.
"We only came into the game when we were 2-0 down, that's worrying."
The Frenchman was also critical of some refereeing decisions on the day, including one just before Chelsea's first when Francis Coquelin appeared to have been fouled in the middle of the park by Ramires, although the match official waved play-on, much to the visiting manager's disgust.
He said: "The referee gave a lot of free-kicks today, and some much less than the Coquelin one. It's frustrating.
"It doesn't mean we should have conceded the goal but, in the big games, these decisions have big implications."
