The Blues will be looking to improve their home form following some less than convincing performances at Stamford Bridge, but the news of John Terry set to make his comeback from a knee injury should provide a timely boost for Rafa Benitez's side.

Victor Moses and John Obi Mikel are both unavailable due to international duties for Nigeria at the Africa Cup of Nations.

Fernando Torres' involvement against the Saints, meanwhile, suggests he has recovered from his recent illness, and gives Benitez a selection headache going into the London derby, with striking counterpart Demba Ba in fine form since his move from Newcastle earlier this month.

The return of Laurent Koscielny from a one-match suspension will provide extra options for Arsene Wenger and Arsenal in defence as they look to shore up their back four once more against top four opposition.

The Gunners, who lost to Manchester City in their last league match ahead of their narrow 1-0 win over Swansea in the FA Cup in midweek, will still be without midfield duo Mikel Arteta and Tomas Rosciky as they both recover from calf injuries.

Gervinho, meanwhile, is unavailable due to being on international duty with Ivory Coast at AFCON.

Chelsea currently sit third in the Premier League standings, 13 points behind leaders Manchester United, while Arsenal are in sixth and trail fourth-placed Tottenham by six points, but have a game in hand over the five teams above them.
