The Citizens are in second place on the table, seven points adrift of the Red Devils in first and need to keep winning if they hope to close the gap before the end of the campaign.

Roberto Mancini's side have not been beaten since the surprise 1-0 loss to Sunderland on Boxing Day, winning all three fixtures thereafter.

A 2-0 victory over Arsenal at the Emirates, their first there in 38 years, saw them keep the gap at seven following United's 2-1 over Liverpool earlier that day.

The good news for the Manchester club is that Vincent Kompany will be available after his red card against Arsenal was rescinded by the Football Association.

Samir Nasri also returns from suspension after serving his three-match ban for his dismissal against Norwich in December. The Fulham match might come too soon for Argentina international Sergio Aguero, though, as he is still recovering from a hamstring injury sustained on New Year's Day.

Micah Richards and Maicon will both miss out with knee injuries, while Jack Rodwell is still sidelined with a hamstring problem.

Meanwhile, the Cottagers are struggling for form in the league, having won just two of their last 10 in the top-flight, and now find themselves in 14th place, just six points clear of the relegation zone.

Martin Jol will have to face the defending champions without the services of Simon Davies (hip), Kerim Frei (groin) and Mahamadou Diarra (knee).

Dimitar Berbatov should return to the side after being handed a rest for the FA Cup third round replay against Blackpool on Tuesday, while Bryan Ruiz and Steve Sidwell are back in contention.
