The New England Revolution had kept their options open as the Major League Soccer SuperDraft approached but have ultimately committed to utilising the first pick of the draft.

The Revs toyed with the idea of staying put as the number four pick, and even considered sliding down the draft to see how it progressed, however, the opportunity of landing a real superstar at number-one seemed too good to pass up.
Head coach Jay Heaps' side sent the number four pick in the draft, as well as an undisclosed allocation fee to Toronto in exchange for the first pick.
"We've been in conversations with multiple teams about a lot of different scenarios, moving down and moving up," Revolution general manager Michael Burns told MLSsoccer on Wednesday night.
"When this became real with Toronto and we wanted to do it and they wanted to do it, it made sense to move up to No. 1 for allocation money."
Burns, though, was giving nothing away about who they might choose to bring to Foxborough, but did not deny they might have moved up to secure a specific player.
"I'm not going to disagree with that statement [about moving up for a specific player], The question is who are we going to take. I understand all that." said the 42-year-old.
"Some teams are more vocal about who they are going to pick than others. We won't be announcing any time soon who we're going to pick. We're going to wait until tomorrow."
The MLS SuperDraft takes place on January 17th at 12pm North American Eastern time.
