The Irishman was voted as the Galaxy's most valuable player after their successful MLS Cup campaign last year.
He led the team in goalscoring during both the regular and post-season.
Due to club and league policies, details of the 32-year-old's new deal could not be released.
Keane has scored 25 goals and notched 12 assists in 42 regular and post-season games since joining from Premier League side Tottenham in August of 2011.
After the Galaxy's MLS Cup win, Keane told the MLS' official website: "I'm really enjoying me time here, and as long as I keep enjoying meself (sic) and as long as I let me football do the talking.
"I'll be very happy to stay here. I look forward to a number of years here."
