The AC Milan player walked off the pitch during a friendly game against Italian second division side Pro Patria after racial slurs and jeering. His team-mates joined him and this action ended the match.

The playmakers and his club were thought to be heading for disciplinary action from the Serie A, but sporting Judge Giampaolo Tosel feels the walk-off was justified.

"In footballing terms, no team can abandon a game out of their own choice, it must be down to the referee who makes this decision or public authorities," Tosel said.

"However, if a player is being racially insulted and his team-mates show solidarity by supporting their team-mate, the essential value of sports and civility mean the club cannot be penalised.

"For this reason, the judge will not issue any punishment to Milan."

Manchester United defender Rio Ferdinand, Manchester City's Vincent Kompany and Netherlands international Nigel De Jong all praised Boateng for his actions.

The event will take place at the National Building in Geneva and will concentrate on racism in sport.
