The Red Devils maintained their seven-point lead at the summit on Sunday with a 2-1 home win over old foes Liverpool.

United boss Sir Alex Ferguson will now be eager for his side to seal the deal in midweek.

This, after they had to rely on a late Robin van Persie strike to snatch a 2-2 draw at Upton Park 10 days ago.

Wayne Rooney is set to return to United's starting XI for the Hammers' visit having recovered from the knee injury he suffered in training on Christmas Day.

Also fit again for the top-flight frontrunners is Nani, the winger having spent the last two months out with a hamstring problem.

However, Ashley Young (knee) and Johnny Evans (hamstring) are both sidelined.

Meanwhile, the east Londoners may still be smarting from Saturday's 3-0 defeat at Sunderland, which left them in 11th place on the table.

The weekend's disappointment also left Sam Allardyce with more defensive woes after James Collins suffered a hamstring injury at the Stadium of Light.

Allardyce has only three fit defenders to choose from, Joey O'Brien (hamstring) and George McCartney (knee) also still on the treatment table.

Arsenal striker Marouane Chamakh is ineligible due to the terms of his loan deal, but midfielder Mohamed Diame is available for selection.
