Chelsea manager Rafa Benitez is pleased with his side's away form, and says it is a result of the different approach taken by opposition teams.

Saturday's 4-0 win over Stoke was ther Blues' sixth straight domestic win on the road, a record which stands in stark contrast to their solitary home Premier League victory since Benitez took charge.

There have been suggestions that this is down to the frosty reception the Spaniard has received at Stamford Bridge, where home fans have been less than enthusiastic at having the former Liverpool boss at the helm.

But Benitez believes there are other factors at play, saying: "The question is the approach of the other teams.

"When we are away, they press high and you have more space. At home, they play deep and you cannot find the space."

The west Londoners have lost their last two home games - to QPR in the league and to Swansea in the Capital One Cup.

The only victory Benitez has seen his men record on home soil was the 8-0 drubbing of Aston Villa.

The 52-year-old finds himself regularly abused by his own club's fans, but still insists this is not affecting the morale of his players.

"You have to realise the team is doing well," Benitez explained. "The players are happy and training well.

"They try to perform, all the staff are doing a great job and the atmosphere inside is really good. At the games we cannot control what is going on outside the pitch but we do our best on the pitch.

"We are doing well away and I think we have also deserved to win at home, but football is football.

"It is a different kind of game at home and we have to manage the situation in a different way, but we are still creating chances."
