Madrid were without Cristiano Ronaldo and despite the home side starting bottom of the table, they were the side that began the brightest, with Alvaro Cejudo going close with a right footed shot that just skimmed wide of Iker Casillas' goal.

The incident seemed to wake the visitors up and they almost went ahead as Angel Di Maria dribbled round Osasuna goalkeeper Andres before crossing for Jose Callejon who headed over the bar as the teams went in goalless.

The game carried on in very much the same the same vein in the second 45, as both sides struggled to find their rhythm, prompting Jose Mourinho to throw Karim Benzema and Kaka onto the field on the hour mark.

It was the Pamplonans' who carried the biggest threat thought, with Emiliano Armenteros testing Casillas as Jose Luis Mendilibar's men started to believe that they could steal something.

Things went from bad to worse for Los Blancos, with Kaka picking-up his second yellow card after just 10 minutes on the field.

However, they looked to have stolen the points as Callejon headed home with 10 minutes left, but his effort was ruled out for a debatable offside.

The result lifts Osasuna off the bottom of the table but it appears that Jose Mourinho's days at the Bernabeu may now be numbered.
