The Gunners are four points behind fourth-placed Chelsea, and two behind behind Everton in fifth.

While Arsene Wenger's men are unbeaten in their last five matches, they failed to win their last game against Southampton on New Year's Day.

Abou Diaby has recovered from injury and featured in a reserve match during the week, but is unlikely to be risked against City.

Lukas Fabianski is still a while away from returning to injury and will not be in the squad at the weekend.

Olivier Giroud will be handed a late fitness test after picking up a knock to his knee in Arsenal's FA Cup clash against Swansea.

Meanwhile, the Citizens are seven points behind in the title race and need a win in North London to keep the pressure on Manchester United, who face Liverpool in the early match on Sunday.

City have won four in their last five matches, losing only to Sunderland on Boxing Day.

They also won by a convincing 3-0 scoreline over Stoke City in their last outing.

Brothers Yaya and Kolo Toure will both be missing until February 10 at the latest, as they are both on international duty with Ivory Coast at the Africa Cup of Nations in South Africa.

Samir Nasri is still serving his suspension for his red card against Norwich City, while Aleksaner Kolarov, Maicon, Micah Richards and Jack Rodwell are out for the long run.

Sergio Aguero has also been ruled out for the trip with a hamstring injury.
