Two goals from Lionel Messi gave the Catalans a first-leg victory and they are firm favourites to progress against the Segunda Division outfit, who find themselves in the bottom half of the table after 20 games.

Barca boss Tito Vilanova will miss the game as he seeks further advice in New York following surgery last month, with Jordi Roura continuing to lead the team in his absence.

The Spanish giants head into the midweek cup tie on the back of their best ever start to La Liga, having won 17 and drawn one of their first 18 games.

Meanwhile, Cordoba's last eight games have seen them win just twice, with three draws and three defeats in that time.

In team news, Barcelona have decided to rest Xavi, Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and Pedro for the tie, while they welcome Adriano back into the squad after training in isolation on Tuesday.
