The news comes after Dyer scored his first goal for Rangers in their 1-1 draw against West Brom in the FA Cup on Saturday.
This brings an end to a turbulent spell at Loftus Road for the 34-year-old, who has made just 8 appearances for the first team since joining from West Ham in 2011.
Manager Harry Redknapp told the club's official website: "I'd like to thank Kieron for his services to QPR."
The former Ipswich, Newcastle and West Ham man has been hampered by injuries for most of his career, and has 33 caps for England. He has, however, not been capped since 2007.
"If he can stay clear of injuries I'm sure there's clubs out there that will offer him the chance to play football.
"He wasn't in my plans and I think he's got something to offer someone, so we wish him all the best."
Meanwhile, Ryan Nelsen is set to become the new Manager of Major League Soccer club Toronto FC.
Having previously spent four years in MLS with DC United, Nelsen moved to Blackburn in 2005, the Toronto job will be the 35-year-old's first managerial role.
It is still unclear when the former Christchurch United man will be allowed to join his new club, and it may depend on whether Redknapp finds another defender in the winter transfer window.
Reports suggest that the Canadian side want Nelsen in charge in time for the start of their season in March.
The New Zealand captain has been a regular in the R's defence this season, making 21 appearances in all competitions since joining from Spurs in the summer.
