The Cottagers started the match brightly, but it was the visitors who went closest to scoring in the early stages, with David Stockdale forced into a spectacular save to prevent Thomas Ince grabbing the lead.

Martin Jol's men showed little to prove their status as the Premier League side on the day, and it was left to the away side to burst the game into life on the hour mark, Ludovic Sylvestre finishing after a lovely move from Nathan Delfouneso, who cut in from the left wing to pick out his team-mate.

Despite being unable to dominate against Blackpool, one moment of top-flight magic did shine through from the hosts after 80 minutes as Giorgos Karagounis buried a stunning volley into the back of the net from 25 yards out after pouncing on a loose clearance.

The last 10 minutes saw Blackpool put everyone behind the ball to deal with a barrage of attacking play from Fulham, with Bryan Ruiz smacking an effort against the bar, but a draw ultimately seemed the fair result.
