The Croatia international arrived at Goodison Park just under a year ago and found the net 16 times in 11 matches last season.
This term has seen a return of only six goals for Jelavic, but Moyes is not overly worried and remains hopeful that the 27-year-old will soon regain his confidence in the opposition box.
"He has continually worked hard. I think probably the difference from this time last year is that everything we made Niki scored," said the Scot.
"This time we are finding it just a little bit harder to get the ball in the net, which was evident against Chelsea.
"You hope the players continue the form they have shown in the past and a bit of confidence can make a difference, especially to forward players."
