With the Midlands club having conceded 12 goals in their last two Premier League matches, their 8-0 loss to Chelsea followed up with a 4-0 defeat to Tottenham Hotspur, the injury crisis could not have come at a worse time.
The club's casualties includes key players, namely skipper Ron Vlaar, wingers Gabriel Agbonlahor and Charles N'Zogbia as well as forwards Darren Bent and Andreas Weimann.
Nathan Baker is the latest to be sidelined, and was taken off with a hamstring problem against Spurs on Boxing Day.
Both Vlaar and Austrian forward Weimann are struggling with calf injuries.
N'Zogbia (knee) and Agbonlahor (hip) continue to be on the recovery trail, but remain doubtful for Saturday while Bent is still a week or two away from returning.
Lambert told the club's official website: "The injury situation is not helping us at the minute. There are a lot at the football club. You have just got to go with what you have got though.
"With Ron, I don't know. He's doing alright at the minute, but has not played since Arsenal (24 November).
"He has not trained with us. He's still working on his rehab. Nathan has a hamstring problem. We don't know how bad it is. Andreas has injured his calf.
"Gabby still has a problem with his hip area and with Charles it's his knee. They are still struggling a bit.
"I am not so sure (N'Zogbia will be back for Wigan). I don't think there will be many of them coming back."
