The Reds slumped to a 3-1 defeat at the hands of a defiant Stoke City, despite a bright start to the game.
The Merseyside outfit now find themselves in tenth with 25 points, eight points behind fourth-placed candidates Tottenham, West Brom and Everton.
The Spanish left-back believes that they need to develop a fighting spirit if they are to achieve success in the Premier League.
"We need more experience and need to show more character in these type of games," the 26-year-old told LiverpoolFC.com.
"You can see we have quality players and we have a good squad, but we need to fight for every point we play for if we want to be in the top four.
"We have to get a winning mentality going and we have to show what we are all about. Every game in this league is difficult but you have to give 100 percent every time you play for this club and show character."
