The USA international saw his Premier League record of 310 consecutive starts halted in October when Spurs boss Andre-Villas Boas named France captain Hugo Lloris in his first XI against Aston Villa.
Friedel has only made five top-flight appearances for the north London outfit this season after being displaced in the first team by Lloris, and it had been suggested that the 41-year-old could be headed back to former side Blackburn in January.
However, the rumours have been put to bed after the London outfit revealed that the veteran American has penned a new deal through to 2014.
"We are delighted to announce that Brad Friedel has signed a new contract with the club until 2014," read a statement from Spurs.
On Sunday, Friedel said on Twitter: "I know there has been quite a bit of speculation regarding my future. All will be revealed in next couple of days:). Happy Holidays!!!"
