The Reds opened the scoring as early as the eighth minute as Martin Skrtel volleyed home a sublime effort from 12 yards out.
Merseyside legend Steven Gerrard then doubled the advantage with a well-worked goal after 36 minutes after latching onto a through pass from Stewart Downing.
Downing then went on to score his first Premier League game for Liverpool with a powerful left-footed strike into the right-hand corner, while Luis Suarez coolly slotted home from close range in injury time to wrap up a comfortable victory for the Merseysiders.
The result came on the back of a shock 3-1 loss to Aston Villa last weekend, but was enough to take Brendan Rodgers' men up to eighth in the standings, five points behind Arsenal, who head a four-way tie for third.
The Cottagers, meanwhile, finished the day in 13th, five points above the relegation zone after 18 league matches.
