The 19-year-old has been subject to interest from several top-flight clubs and has been widely tipped to make the move in January, with Liverpool and Everton leading the chase for his signature.

Butland has had an impressive off-season, representing Team Great Britain at the Olympics and travelling to Euro 2012 with England. He has since made his debuts for both club and country and has established himself as one of the best young keepers around.

"I have got confidence in my ability," he told Sky Sports. "I would always back myself.

"I have been fortunate to play in quite a few big stadiums and I would like to think I have handled myself very well.

"I don't think the occasion would be a problem. I want to be playing at the top level for as long as I can in my career.

"And those summer experiences gave me an idea of what to expect and how I need to be at that level."
