The Magies have lost six of their last seven games and occupy 15th position in the standings - a far cry from their impressive fifth-placed finish last season.

They will come up against a rejuvenated QPR outfit on the weekend. Since Harry Redknapp's arrival, the Hoops have gone on a four-match unbeaten streak culminating in their first league victory of the season after 17 games - a 2-1 win over Fulham on Saturday.

And Pardew is fully aware of the pressure he is under, the 51-year-old telling the Shields Gazette: "It's going to be one of those days we must win.

"Usually, reporters say it's a must-win game - I'm telling you it's must-win. That's what we need to do.

"We're going to have a lot of pressure this week.

"QPR will be expected to lose, so they can come and play with a little bit of freedom.

"Not us, we're going to have to play under monster pressure. It (the stadium) needs to be full up. They (the supporters) need to be right on our side, whatever happens - even if QPR go 2-0 up."
