Muller was linked with the likes of Inter, Chelsea and both Manchester clubs in the off-season, but it appears they will now have to set their sights elsewhere.

The German international's original contract was due to expire in 2015 but he has now signalled his commitment to the Bavarians with a longer-term contract.

"Thomas Muller came through the youth ranks at FC Bayern. We trained him here, and he's developed into a very important player for Bayern Munich," Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge told the club's official website.

"His contract ran until 2015 in any case, but we're delighted to extend that by two years until 2017 at this early stage.

"It's also proof of Thomas Muller's commitment to FC Bayern."

Muller has been in superb form for the Bundesliga leaders this season, netting 13 times and providing eight assists in 25 games in all competitions.
